Transfer Process for Current Full-Time Instructional Employees:
If you are currently a full-time teacher with M-DCPS looking for a new instructional position, please review and follow the Voluntary/Hardship Transfer process outlined in the M-DCPS/UTD Collective Bargaining Agreement. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Applicants Wanted: We are in the midst of a targeted recruitment campaign aimed at
attracting individuals with a strong STEM background for a highly selective summer program, the  AmeriCorps VISTA - TEACh Strong Summer
Associates.  This summer immersion program will prepare Associates to become excellent STEM teachers.

In its continued commitment to impacting the academic achievement of the students in its highest need schools, M-DCPS will afford the selected
Associates the following opportunities:

  • Participation in an intensive eight-week summer training (June 15th – August 9th) consisting of enrichment programs, hands-on work
    experience and a comprehensive professional development curriculum
  • Access to mentor teachers and additional support from district Curriculum Support Specialists (CSS)
  • Participation in and access to monthly cohort meetings, webinars and an online support community

Immersion in this summer training experience will prepare Associates to make an immediate impact on the students they will serve, and the ongoing
professional development and other support opportunities, will continue to strengthen their performance as educators throughout the course of the
school year and beyond.

Associates will receive a subsistence allowance of $1,968.02. Those who successfully complete this summer term may elect to receive an end-of-
service cash stipend or an $1,213.04 award in the form of an educational voucher that can be used towards qualified federal student loans and future
education expenses. It is valid for up to seven years.

Minimum requirements:

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field
  • No prior teaching experience as a teacher of record in a K-12 classroom
  • Completion of AmeriCorps Vista and  M-DCPS applications (see link below)
  • Commitment to full eight-week summer academy
  • Commitment to teach in a M-DCPS high-need secondary school and to fulfill initial District certification requirements (General Knowledge Exam
    (GKE) and application to FLDOE for certification)

Associates who successfully complete this eight-week program and have met all M-DCPS pre-employment requirements, will be hired into Full-time (FT)
teaching positions with the district.

All instructional candidates must be eligible for a State of Florida teaching certificate and have a completed profile in TeacherMatch, a passing score on
all parts of the General Knowledge Exam, and be highly qualified (passing subject area exam).
