Our newly established Department of Mental Health Services is seeking 12-month professionals for the following positions:

  • Curriculum Support Specialists who will support schools in addressing student mental health concerns. They will be responsible for planning, coordinating and facilitating the collaboration of mental health services as well as providing professional development.  They offer direct services and support to students, schools and/or mental health professionals by coordinating mental health assessments, interventions and recovery services.  The Curriculum Support Specialist serves as a leader and resource to administration, schools and staff.   Applicants must have a minimum of three years of teaching experience or three years of experience in the areas of counseling or social work. 

  • Mental Health Coordinators who will support schools in addressing student mental health concerns. Mental Health Coordinators will assist and support students and families with social, emotional, and physical development needs to enhance and maximize student success. Additionally, they will provide evidence-based practices including risk and threat assessments and identify and assess the need for further diagnosis. They will support a rapid identification of students in need of mental health evaluations and work in collaboration with school site staff and community-based agencies to coordinate services to meet the mental health service needs of students. This position requires a master’s degree and licensing in mental health counseling, social work, psychology, counseling or any other related area.

  • Social Workers who will support schools in addressing student mental health concerns.  They will assist and support students and families with social, emotional, and physical development needs to enhance and maximize student success.  Additionally, they will provide evidence-based practices including risk and threat assessments and identify and assess the need for further diagnosis.  They will support a rapid identification of students in need of mental health evaluations and work in collaboration with school site staff and community-based agencies to coordinate services to meet the mental health service needs of students. This position requires a Master’s in Social Work.

Department of Early Childhood Programs Florida DOE Certified
M-DCPS Head Start and Early Head Start, which is a comprehensive program for low income children ages 2 months to 5 years seeks a 12-month school psychologist to provide mental health consultation. The psychologist would be responsible for visiting and support Head Start classrooms throughout the district to ensure that the teachers are implementing strategies that promote and develop social and emotional skills. For children that require additional support, the psychologist will help the teacher develop individualized plans and consult with parents about strategies to implement at home. They will also be expected to provide professional development to teachers and trainings for parents. Candidate must already hold Florida DOE School Psychologist certification. Holding only a Statement of Status of Eligibility for School Psychologist does not meet this qualification.
