"NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND ACT OF 2001"

Please be reminded that Section 1119 of The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001", (NCLB) requires that paraprofessionals hired prior to January 8, 2002, involved in instructional duties have until June 30, 2007 in which to meet one of the following criteria in order to be considered a Highly Qualified Paraprofessional (HQP):

Complete at least 60 college credit hours at an institution of higher learning; or
Obtain an Associate=s degree (AA) or higher; or
Successfully complete a State or local assessment (ParaPro Assessment Test with a score of 456 or higher) or
Successfully complete the UTD ER&D 42 hour course work (Offered to Employees Only)
