I-9 (Employment Verification)
IIn order to comply with Federal Law, Miami-Dade County Public Schools is required to verify the Employment Eligibility of all full-time and part-time applicants prior to hire. Applicants whose hire has been initiated must present in person original acceptable documents that establish their identity and employment authorization and complete an Employment Eligibility Verification form (Form I-9). Form I-9 must also be completed by employees who are rehired, if the version of the form used for the previous verification has been replaced by a newer version or if the previous verification form is older than 3 years.
Current employees who have documents which expire and must be re-verified, such as special visas, temporary I-551, employment authorization cards, etc., must visit the Office of Personnel Actions prior to the documents expiration date for re-verification. The employee must present in person an original document that shows either an extension of his/her initial employment authorization or a new employment authorization document.
Failure to provide the district with appropriate employment eligibility documents will result in termination from employment.
