How do I get to the Expo?
It is recommended that you use the Metro Rail and transfer to the Metro Mover at the Government Center Station.
  Take the Metro-Mover to the Knight Center Station (Metro Transit information hotline (305) 770-3131 and their website www.miamidade.gov/transit )

If you choose to drive, we recommend VALET parking – fee is $9.00.  Self-parking is $7.00. 

I’m traveling to the Miami area to attend the Expo. Are there hotels in the area?
This area is quite abundant with a number of major chain hotels including the Hyatt Regency Miami Hotel which is the site of the Job Expo. The Clarion Hotel is adjacent to the Job Expo site. I want to come to the Job Expo to find out about teaching positions.  How do I know if I am eligible for a temporary teaching certificates?

To determine eligibility, you can contact the state of Florida Department of Education (D.O.E.)  This website clearly explains the subject area requirements for someone to be eligible for a temporary certificate.  No one can begin teaching without being eligible for a temporary certificate.

Do I need to complete and submit an instructional application to Miami-Dade County Public Schools' (M-DCPS) Instructional Staffing Office first?
It would be helpful to do this in advance but not necessary.

Do I need to complete and submit an application for any other position that interests me before attending the Job Expo?  It would be helpful but not necessary.

I am a M-DCPS Temporary Instructor (Substitute), may I attend?
Yes.

I don’t have a teaching certificate. Should I attend?
Yes, plan on pre-registering and  attend if you meet the eligibility requirements for pre-registration.

Even though the school year is in session, are you still hiring teachers?
Yes – vacancies are listed on our website.   We hire year round.

I am an experienced teacher.  Should I attend the Job Expo?
Most definitely – the Job Expo is for any level of experience in education.

Bring all applicable documents (e.g., transcripts with degree posted, multiple copies of your resume, licenses, certificates, if applicable.)

What are the hours of the Job Expo?
Wednesday – January 11th - 9am - 3pm

What should I wear?
Professional attire is suggested.

Will there be interviews at the Expo?
Yes, depending on the number of attendees, and their eligibility and qualifications for current vacancies.   In case onsite interviews are not conducted  each candidate will sign up at the table of their interest: Administrative, Professional and Technical, Instructional, or Non-Instructional, so that follow-up contact can be made.

What is the purpose of the Job Expo?
The purpose of the Job Expo is to acquaint attendees with the various jobs available in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.  It will also give attendees an opportunity to relate their qualifications to school district representatives as well as learn about the benefits of working in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

What happens after the Job Expo?  Will office representatives be in contact with me?
Yes, if you sign in at the office of your job interest and meet qualifications, you will be contacted.

We have noticed that many attendees carry around either a note pad or note cards and jot down comments after each contact. You must be organized. The Job Expo is a one-day event and moves at a relatively fast pace. Remembering names and keeping business cards will go a long way in your job search.
